So, are you ready?
Tackling Puffy Hair
1. Wash your hair regularly
Wash your hair twice a week with lukewarm water. The hair loses its natural oils when you often wash it, leaving it puffy and dry. Using hot water could also induce this damage. If you feel your scalp is too greasy, you could shake a baby powder on it. Eliminate the powder from your hair after five minutes by running your fingers through the hair.
2. Pick your shampoo and conditioner right
Some products have been designed exclusively for dry, damaged, or curly hair. Use a shampoo that works on scalp and hair alike. Apply the conditioner to your hair and scalp, leave for 3 minutes, and then rinse off with cool water. Use an oil-based or protein-rich conditioner to repair the damaged hair and ease your puffiness.
3. Dab in some serum
Apply a generous amount of serum or mousse to your damp hair to keep your hair smooth. Start with the tips and work towards the roots. You could also use a mild, non-sticky oil such as almond oil blended with vitamin E to work like your natural serum. Argan oil is also a great natural styling cream.

4. Always use a wide-toothed comb
Separate your hair into small sections and comb with a wide-toothed comb. Begin by combing the ends, working your way slowly towards the roots. Comb your hair when it is damp and is drenched in the conditioner. You could also comb your hair after lubricating it with the serum.
5. Blot dry your hair
Use a soft cotton cloth to blot dry your hair. Wrap the damp hair in the cloth and squeeze out the excess water. Wrap the fabric around the hair and leave it on until dry. It will ensure that your hair remains soft and gets sufficient time to trap in all the essential moisture.
6. Avoid blow-drying your hair
Blow drying leaves your hair dry. When used for a prolonged period, the heat strips away the natural oils, leaving your hair frizzy and messy. If you want to use a hairdryer, apply a generous amount of heat-protecting spray on your hair. Start blow drying only after your hair is 75% dry. And, never set your heat setting to the maximum, as it could worsen your puffiness.
7. Deep condition your hair
Deep condition your hair with some beautiful protein and fat-rich masks to lock in the natural oils and moisture. While twice a month would be ideal, use it weekly if your hair is too dry. Apply the mask on damp hair and leave it on for about 20 to 30 minutes. Rinse the mask off with cool water and air dry your hair.
8. Say no to parabens, sulfates, and silicones
While silicones help in smoothing out puffy hair, you need sulfate-based products to eliminate the silicones. And, sulfates are quite harsh that leave your hair puffy, dry, and brittle. Excessive buildup of silicones would also leave the hair dull and limp. Avoid using parabens as they are known to cause cancer.
9. Massage
Giving your hair an oil massage at the roots and scalp regularly will help you gain shiny and healthy hair. Repeat this process at least twice a week. Almond oil or coconut oil is suitable for too dense and puffy hair.
10. When everything Fails
If you still fail to tame the puffiness in your hair, then visit the nearest saloon and take the proper haircut that suits you. Use mild smoothing products that will easily lessen the dryness and adds a shiny look to your hair.
Home Remedies To Ease Puffy Hair
These are some uncomplicated yet highly effective solutions to get rid of puffy hair.
1. Hot Oil Massage
You can use any oil of your choice, but sesame oil, coconut oil, and olive oil are considered the best as their thick, dense nature helps protect the natural oils. Mix sesame oil and olive oil in a 1:1 ratio. Warm the oil on indirect heat and mix in 2 tsp almond oil. Massage this mixture into the scalp thoroughly and leave it for 30 minutes or overnight for the best results. Wash off the excess oil using a hydrating shampoo. Condition generously.
2. Coconut Oil With Vitamin E
Both the ingredients are known for improving hydration and tackling puffiness. Mix 4 tsp coconut oil with 1 tsp vitamin E oil. Warm the oil mixture and massage generously into the scalp and hair. Cover with a warm towel and wash off with a mild shampoo after one hour.
3. Almonds and Egg
Egg whites are rich in protein, and almonds are sources of healthy fats. This mixture repairs your hair strands and tones the puffy hair, making it smooth and soft. Blend one egg white with ¼ cup almonds into a smooth paste. Mix 1 tbsp coconut oil into the mixture. Apply the mixture on your hair and scalp and wait for half an air. Wash off with a mild hydrating shampoo. Follow up with a deeply nourishing conditioner.
4. Apple Cider Vinegar Rinse
People who have tried this vouch for its great hair smothering properties. Use this as the final rinse after your shampoo. Apply ACV generously over the shampooed hair and wait for 30 seconds. Rinse off with cool water to ease the puffiness. Condition as usual for silky, smooth hair.
5. Avocado Sesame Oil Mask
The creamy, essential fats-rich avocado is one of the best and most natural ways to tackle puffy hair. Scoop out the flesh of half an avocado and blend it with two tablespoons of sesame oil.
